Hello everyone.

We Jack parents would like to start of by saying thank you everyone for your continued support and heart felt messages.

Jack had his operation on Monday and was in surgery for nearly 10 hours and Jay the surgeon that performed the operation came straight down to us after he had finished and gave us the news that he thinks he may have removed all of the tumour and that Jack had came round from the aesthetic and announced that he felt sick and then did so all over the anaesthetist. He was supposed to go straight to HDU afterwards but the surgeon said that he was happy for him to come back to the ward and that he should be back within the next 15 – 20 minutes. Well after an hour had past and still no sign of our little soldier we started to get a bit twitchy and got one of the nurses to inquire as to what was taking so long. She came back to us and asked us to join her down at the HDU department. All the way down there we were both thinking the worst.

Once we got inside and see Jack all wired up and a bottom lip the size of a golf ball where he had bitten it during the operation we was told that Jack has decided to go back to sleep and didn’t and wouldn’t wake up. Well he slept right through the night and most of the next day to. When he woke up he was in an enormous amount of pain and the doctors gave him plenty of morphine which sent him off to Mama Mia land for about 2 days.

On the third day Jack was eased off the really strong drugs that made him sleepy and through a lot of discomfort and pain he started to become his self again. We needed to get him to eat so I made him some toast and he managed to have 4 small mouthfuls.

When the surgeon came round the next morning and we told him that he managed the small amount of toast the previous evening and kept it down, he told jack how proud he was of him and Jack announced if it was Mc Donalds I could have eaten more. Jay then said if you want Mc Donalds you can have it. So off I go to get for his breakfast exactly what he wanted Chocolate milkshake sausage and egg muffin and a hash brown. Well the way he ate it you would think this little boy hadn’t eaten anything for 2 weeks. He scoffed it down and that kept him going till tea time. Guess what he wanted for tea? Yes a quarter pounder with cheese and a chocolate milkshake and again it didn’t take long for it to disappear but the trouble is that it all came back up, so hence to say he’s not pigging out on Macky d’s at the moment. He is now begging for Cadburys cream eggs all the time and galaxy caramel ice creams. He is now eating sensibly now and only gets his wants once he has eaten some healthy food.

He is up on his feet and walking now but only with support and he has been having trouble with his left arm and hand but with a bit of therapy he will get all that working again soon. He has managed to get his smiley face back and all the nurses want to take him home and keep him for themselves.

Although our Jack has had this operation and things look good for the time being he has a lot more treatment ahead of him and a very long and difficult journey so keep the messages coming in and we will keep you updated when we get time. Today he has been transferred back to Reading Hospital for a couple of days before he can come home for a rest.

All our love Allan & Helen
