NC TLC Trust is a charity dedicated to helping the sick children, and the families and their siblings and extended family of those children, who are diagnosed with Tumours, Leukemia or Cancer at the moment of diagnosis, during and after treatment.

Set up by families undergoing treatment in Northamptonshire and surrounding areas, a site unique in that it is run by people going through the illnesses or are supporting families on the other side a network of likeminded people going through similar scenarios helping one another through difficult times and forming new freindships.

This site is going to develop into a hub for all things Nc TLC Trust based. Over the next few  months we plan to incorporate a fully interactive forum offering community, support and advice; a calendar showing events our supporters are attending with links to allow you to sponsor them should you want to as well as keeping you up to date via the news and blogging facility  on some of our families that are currently undergoing treatment, already here.

One other facility we are looking forward to offering, are  'Days To Remember'  for those children who reach milestones in their fight against these awful diseases.

Thank you very much to Janet Walker Smith and the NC TLC Trust for our free week’s holiday to Battle in Hastings in your beautiful holiday home.

Our son Jack was diagnosed 27th May 2009 with a medulloblastoma brain tumour and underwent 2 operations to remove it. He had the tumour removed on the 1st June 2009 and since then for the past year we have been taking him in and out of hospital for treatment. The treatment involved 6 weeks every day of intense Radiotherapy along with a dose of Chemo at the end of each week. This was a very difficult time for us all knowing what the long term side affects would bring. After that was finished we was given a free holiday down in Torquay Devon in September.

A week after coming back from there we had to start the next part of Jacks treatment which was the Chemotherapy. It was explained that Jack would have to undergo 8 courses which would be every 6 weeks and each course would involve going to Oxford JR and staying in for 33 hours to have 3 different types of Chemo put into him. After that we would be let home and he then had to go to Reading hospital for the next 2 Tuesdays to have more chemo. We would then be left alone for 3 weeks then called back in for tests on his hearing and kidneys ready to start this procedure all over again the following week. We are currently half way through course 5 and now starting to see the affects of this horrible treatment and can’t wait for this nightmare to come to an end.

Due to the timings of all this treatment it is very hard to plan any time of break as sometimes the treatment gets put back a week or 2 due to complications, so since September last year we as a family have not had a break at all and have found it all very tiring and frustrating. You guys have been so great in helping us to have that much needed break; you will never understand how much it has meant to us unless you have been through a traumatic time like we have.

From the time we got down to the caravan to the time we came home, we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff on the site and everyone was so helpful. The caravan was sparkling clean when we arrived and the van was nice and warm.

Looking out of the living room window was a joy! The views are amazing overlooking Bexhill bay and the sea.

The wildlife kept us amused for hours everyday and Jack was amazed by the friendly fox that used to come to our caravan for his morning and evening feed.

The fox would sit outside the van every evening looking up at the window until we took some food out for it.

We had a day in Battle Abbey learning all about the battle of Hastings in 1066 which completely shattered Jack as there was so much walking involved (which he isn’t too keen on).

That shield weighed a ton and Jack couldn’t wait to put it down.

We had a run out to Bexhill and had a walk round the shops which were just beautiful.

Another day we went to Eastbourne and had fish n chips on the beach then off to the arcades to spend a fortune.

All in all we had a very relaxing break and everyone that has donated to this cause should be very proud of themselves because families like ours find this a tonic and it has helped us recharge our batteries ready to face the rest of this treatment.

Keep up the good work guys and once again from all of us in the Daly family Thank You.

Allan, Helen & Jack
